Course Objectives

This course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the Construction or Civil Engineering industry as a member of the workforce to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site.

It provides a practical summary of health and safety welfare and environmental issues identifying individual responsibilities for looking after them and others, what the employers duties are and what should be done if they think anyone's health and safety is being put at risk.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who works in Construction/Civil Engineering or who is new to the industries.

Course Content

The aims of this course are:

To ensure that individual responsibilities are understood:

- Why they are carrying out their identified duties
- What is expected of them, and
- To ensure that they contribute to the safety of the workplace

At the end of the course the delegates will be able to:

- Understand the need to prevent accidents
- Have an understanding of health and safety law
- Identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site
- Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
- Appreciate the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice if not sure
- Feel obliged to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

Delegates will be required to complete a multiple-choice assessment as well as participate throughout the course.

The IT requirements for this course are as follows:

• A laptop or PC with a webcam andmicrophone
• Reliable internet connection - super fast or fibre optic internet
• Our preferred browser for delegates to use is Google Chrome, however Firefoxor Internet explorer will suffice

Please ensure the delegates have thefollowing information with them for the course:

• Delegates will be required to showphotographic ID to confirm their identity at the start of the course. Pleaseensure they have with them a valid CSCS Card, Driving Licence or Passport.
• Delegates are required to have their NI numbers.
• CITB levy payers will need to bring their levy number in order to claim backthe attendance grant.
• For Refresher courses - please ensure a copy of the delegates currentcertificate is emailed through to the training provider no later than 2 workingdays prior to the course.

The end of course assessment link will be emailed to your delegate onthe final day of the course. Please ensure the email addressesmember@surveymonkeyuser.com and gosurveymonkey.com are added to your whitelistand is allowed through your email security system to avoid any technical issueson assessment day.
