Fixed Ladder Access and Rescue

This fixed ladder and rescue course is a refresher for delegates who have previous climbing experience within the last 12 months. They will cover the basics of climbing on fixed ladders as well as practicing the rescue of a fellow climber, suspended by a fall arrest lanyard.

Course Contents:

- Health and safety legislation.
- Risk assessment and method statements.
- PPE selection and usage.
- PPE maintenance and inspections.
- Assessing climbing technique.
- Efficient rescue plan.
- Use of fall arrest/work positioning lanyards.
- Suspension trauma.
- Rescue exercises.
- ‘Off-weighting’ casualty

Training and Assessment:

Classroom-based theory and practical sessions with scenario-based activities. Written and practical assessment to ensure theoretical and practical understanding has been achieved.

Course Requirements:

Delegates must be over 18 yrs, physically fit, able to work at height with previous climbing experience. Delegates will be required to complete a medical declaration.

Equipment Required:

Delegates will need to bring suitable climbing PPE and clothing for seasonal weather conditions. Climbing PPE may be provided upon request.

Certification:

In-house accredited certification will be issued upon successful completion
