The aims and objectives of the Qualsafe Awards First Aid at Work course are to enable individuals designated as the First Aider at work to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency. Following the course, the delegates will be able to manage a casualty who is injured at work, or suffers from a serious illness, until the emergency services arrive.
Course Content:
• Roles and responsibilities of first aiders
• Incident and casualty assessment
• CPR and AED
• Unconscious casualty breathing normally
• Management of a seizure
• Choking casualty
• External bleeding and shock
• Minor injuries
• Hypoxia
• Asthma and hyperventilation
• Circulatory system
• Wounds and bleeding extras
• Eye injuries
• Anaphylaxis
• Angina and heart attack
• Stroke
• Burns and scalds
• Poisonous substances
• Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
• Head and spinal injuries
• Secondary survey
• Epilepsy and diabetes
Course Assessment:
Multiple choice question paper / written assessment x 2 Practical assessments – unconscious casualty, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, wounds, bleeding and shock, secondary survey and management of fractures
Certification:
All candidates will receive a Qualsafe accredited certificate valid for 3 years. An Annual Refresher course is recommended once a year to keep delegates up to date
