First Aid at Work - 3 Day Full Qualification Course

The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.



Course Overview


Over a 3 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid
situations, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking,
head and spinal injuries, fractures, anaphylaxis and more.


Assessment Methods


6 x Practical assessments and 2 x Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers).

Course Content


• Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
• Be able to assess an incident
• Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
• Be able to conduct a secondary survey
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
• Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
• Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
• Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

Certification


A certificate of achievement will be award for Learners who successfully pass assessments and the qualification
is valid for 3 years. The Learner needs to re-take the qualification and the assessments before the end of the 3
years to remain qualified. Qualsafe Awards recommend Learners also complete annual refreshers to maintain
their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first aid procedures.
