First Aid at Work - 3 Day Full Qualification Course

Who Should Attend:

This course is suitable for anyone who is a nominated first aider in the workplace or anyone who wants a comprehensive introduction to First Aid. Delegates must be at least 16 years of age certification.

Course Aims & Objectives:

The purpose of the course is to provide delegates with the practical skills needed by first aiders in the workplace and to give them the confidence and knowledge in dealing with emergency situations.

By the end of the course delegates will:

- Understand the Health & Safety regulations
- Be able to administer first aid
- Understand what to do and what not to do in an emergency situation
- Be able to maintain and use the first aid box and understand its contents
- Be able to keep accurate records of incidents in the log book

Course Outline:

- Health & Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981
- The role of the first aider and administering first aid

- Cardiopulmoary Resusciation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrialltion (AED)

- Catastrophoic Bleeding (this is risk rated so will be taught if required)
- Resuscitation
- Unconsciousness
- Head Injuries
- Airway and Breathing Problems
- Circulation Problems
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Poisons, Burns and Scalds
- Injuries to Bones, Muscles and Joints
- Spinal Injuries
- Effects of Heat and Cold
- Diabetes, Epilepsy, Seizures and Febrile Convulsions
- The Respiratory System
- First Aid Kits
- RIDDOR Regulations 2013
- Accident Recording

Certification:

Delegates are assessed throughout the course by the trainer and need to complete a written assessment at the end of the course. Successful delegates will receive a QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work certificate. Certificates are valid for 3 years and then delegates will need to attend the 2 day re-qualification course to remain qualified.
