Course Overview
This course is suitable for people who have previously completed a First Aid at Work course and need to renew their first aid at work qualification for another three years in order to continue to act as a first aider within their workplace.
Delivered in a classroom setting, this course offers practical, hands-on training that helps learners to develop the skills and confidence to use first aid in a real-life situation.
Course Content:
In addition to the topics covered on an emergency first aid at work course, this course covers treatment for a variety of injuries and medical conditions.
The course covers the following:
• Understanding the role and responsibilities of the first aider
• Managing an emergency situation
• How to help someone who is:
– unresponsive and breathing
– unresponsive and not breathing, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
– suffering a seizure
– suffering from shock
– suffering from external bleeding
– has suffered a minor injury
– is choking
• How to conduct a secondary survey
• How to administer first aid to a casualty
– with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
– with suspected head and spinal injuries
– with suspected chest injuries
– with burns and scalds (and how to explain the severity of them)
– with an eye injury
– with sudden poisoning
– with anaphylaxis
– with suspected minor injuries
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course learners will be up to date with the latest qualifications, to once again to work as a qualified first aider within their chosen area. They will also confidently know how to handle all the situations as a first aider.
Additional Information:
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for 3 years and is accredited by SQA and Ofqual Certified.
Certificate Valid for: 3 years and must be refreshed within this time to stay current.
