The course is designed to meet the training needs of hospital Fire Safety Managers, Fire Safety Advisors, local authority fire service inspecting officers, architects, building control officers or any other colleague responsible for fire safety within a healthcare environment. It relates to the understanding and application of the relevant Firecode suite of documents (Health Technical Memorandum - HTM).
On successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to interpret and use the HTM documents as they relate to fire safety design and management within healthcare premises. Understanding these
documents will allow delegates to consult and give advice on new healthcare buildings and on major alterations to existing healthcare buildings.
The subjects covered are:
• HTM 05-01: Managing healthcare fire safety
• HTM 05-02: Guidance in support of functional provisions for healthcare premises.
• HTM 05-03: Operational provisions manuals:
• Part A General Fire Safety
• Part B Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
• Part D Commercial Enterprises on Healthcare Premises
• Part M Guidance on the Fire Safety of Atria in Healthcare Premises
