Introduction
The aim of the course is to provide delegates with a greater awareness of the threat of fire; the chemistry of fire; common causes of fire and how it spreads; fire hazard spotting and reporting; fire routine and evacuation procedures; access for fire service vehicles to site and practical use of fire extinguishers.
Course Duration This training runs as a ½ day course.
Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for employees at any level within an organisation who may, at any time, need prevention, awareness and practical skills in dealing with the threat of fire. There are no prerequisites for delegates attending this training course.
Course Objectives
On completion of training, delegates will:
- Understand the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other relevant legislation
- Understand how fires start and spread
- Understand the principles of fire prevention
- Know what action to take in the event of a fire
- Have a practical ability to use Water, CO², and Foam fire extinguishers, and fire blankets

- Current fire statistics and a look at some past high profile fires
- Insight into the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

- Fire precautions including types of extinguishers
- Action in the event of a fire
- Demonstration and practical use of fire extinguishers
