Course Description
This course will cover the legislation associated with working in confined spaces. What constitutes a confined space, the potential hazards, safe operating procedures, emergency procedures and rescue.
Candidates will be practically training to enter a confined space horizontally and vertically using various equipment.
The use of escape breathing apparatus and gas monitoring detection will be used when entering and evacuating the confined space during the practical training.
At the conclusion of the course the candidates will be able to
• Summarise the requirements of the Confined Space legislation and the associated ACOP.
• Identify a confined space and its reasonably foreseeable risks.
• Select appropriate methods of risk control.
• Select appropriate safety equipment that may be used when entering a confined space and carry out appropriate pre-use checks.
• Conduct an entry into a confined space and exit using escape breathing apparatus and appropriate safety equipment.
