This course is designed to impart a training base for adult educators so that they are able to prepare and administer a confined space safe entry/escape using BA to other individuals within their company.
It is designed to cover the legislation, working practices and safety requirements for access to all types of confined space, and include the use of single stage vertical access systems (harnesses, winches and tripods to enter shafts or ladder ways).
The course covers the use of escape breathing apparatus, gas detectors and communication systems. It includes program standards, lesson plans, slides, exam keys and a copy of the student manual.
Who Should Attend:
This course is for the corporate in-house trainers and provides them with the techniical knowledge and resource materials to enable them to deliver professional Confined Space training to all of their staff.
Course Contents:
Day 1:
- Introduction and course overview
- Legislation / Definition of a 'Confined' space
- Risk Assessment and hazard identification
- Atmospheric hazards and gases
- Principles and use of gas detectors
- Safe systems of work & permits to work
Day 2:
- Methods of communication
- Care and use of PPE
- Access methods - Practical
- Emergency procedures - Practical Drills
- Self rescue using escape breathing apparatus
- Assessments
Pre-requisites:
All delegates wishing to attend must have previously completed the "Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) (6302) or similar qualification.
Certification:
Upon successful completion, all delegates will receive a certificate which is valid for 3 years.
