Who should attend:
For individuals wishing to act as an emergency first aider for their workplace. This content is in line with HSE recommendations.
Aims and Objectives:
All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.
Course Content:
- Welcome and introduction
- Dealing with an emergency (assessing a casualty, monitoring a casualty, where to get help, electrical incidents)
- Unresponsive and breathing adult: recovery position
- Seizures/Epilepsy
- Unresponsive and not breathing adult – resuscitation
- AED (use of an AED, chain of survival)
- Choking adult
- Hygiene techniques
- Bleeding and wounds (bleeding heavily from a wound (limb, embedded object in a wound) small blisters and splinters, small bruises and wounds, nosebleed)
- Shock (shock and internal bleeding)
- Accident recording, reporting and COSHH (health and safety first aid regulations, first aid kits, accident records, RIDDOR and COSHH)
- Burns (burns, electrical burns, chemical burns, chemical burns to the eyes)
Assessment:
Continuous assessment by observation, practical and questioning.
Certification:
Emergency first aid at work certificate. Valid for 3 years.
Pre-requisite:
Customers must be able to carry out the practical elements from the course outline. Minimum age 16.
Duration:
1 Day
The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
