The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification forms part of the STA First Aid suite of qualifications. This is for individuals who have a specific responsibility at work to deliver basic first aid to individuals in a range of emergency first aid situations.
Course Aims & Objectives:
The aim of the course is to enable an individual to be able to act as an appointed person to take charge of the first aid arrangements, including looking after the equipment and facilities and calling the Emergency Medical Services when required.
Course Contents:
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider - Be able to assess an incident - Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty - Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking - Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding - Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock - Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
Assessment:
The qualification is tutor assessed through the completion of worksheets and practical demonstrations. Worksheets are to be completed independently by each learner, with the tutor acting as the invigilator.
Any incorrect worksheet answer will be addressed through oral supplementary questioning. All additional questions and responses must be recorded.
Assessors will assess no more than four delegates at any time when performing practical demonstrations. All practical tasks must be performed independently by the delegate without prompting by the tutor.
Entry Requirements:
Learners must be 16 years of age or above on the first day of the course. It is advisable that learners have a minimum of level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
All learners must be able to kneel on the floor to deliver CPR. Duration:
