Emergency First Aid at Work - 1 Day

Description

To provide practical training in the administration of emergency first aid to:

- Those wishing to learn emergency first aid for adults
- Those supporting a qualified first aider
- Those employed in a low risk working environment with less than 50 people

Candidates must be 13 years of age or older and physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course content.

Aims

- By the end of the course, candidates will understand the role of the first aider and the have knowledge of the administration of emergency first aid.

Course Content

Understanding the role of the first aider including reference to:

- The importance of preventing cross infection
- The need for recording incidents and actions
- Use of available equipment

Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)

Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Administer first aid to a casualty who is:

- Choking
- Wounded and bleeding
- Suffering from shock

Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds and small splinters)

Certification

Upon successful completion, the candidate will be issued with an Emergency First Aid Certificate, valid for 3 years.
