Introduction
This course teaches the essential skills required to operate an AED and gives students the confidence to know what to do in an emergency. No previous first aid knowledge is necessary to attend an AED course, but would be an advantage.
Course Duration: 1/2 Day
Who Should Attend:
The course is suitable for any person who has been carefully selected to ensure that they are capable of taking on the responsibilities of a first aider.
There are no pre-requisites for delegates attending this course however basic first aid knowledge would be an advantage.
Course Objectives:
Delegates will receive basic training and will be given the opportunity to apply practical knowledge whilst ensuring that they have:
A good understanding of the basic principles of casualty resuscitation
- The ability to respond confidently in an emergency
- The ability to confidently use the AED device when required
Course Programme:
- Treatment of the unconscious casualty
- Resuscitation and heart attacks
- Understanding an AED device
- Operating an AED
Certification and Assessment:
Attendance certificates will be issued after course completion and are valid for 1 year.
Please note – This certification does not replace the Emergency First Aid at Work or full First Aid At Work certification. The course also may not be used to extend a current certificate.
