Aim:


Provide candidates with underpinning knowledge in order for them to understand the role and responsibility of the Crane Supervisor.

 

Objectives:


Following successful completion of the course candidates will be able understand and follow safe systems of work for lifting operations including risk assessments and method statements.

 

Who Should Attend?


All personnel who are responsible for supervising the use of cranes.

Candidates must have completed the CSCS test within the past two years.

 

Course Summary


Candidates will participate in theory lessons all of which are highlighted by the use of OHP & Videos covering:

  • Legislation ‐ LOLER, PUWER, HASAWA – Codes of practice ‐ BS7121
  • Roles and responsibilities of personnel involved with lifting operations
  • Crane appreciation ‐ crane types, capabilities and limitations
  • Duty charts – Crane terminology
  • Documentation and certification for lifting equipment and lifting accessories
  • Crane stability/ground conditions – Safe Load Indicators (SLI) and Safe Working Loads (SWL)
  • Lifting accessories – Types of accessories and use – Slinging techniques – Down rating of accessories
  • Sling angles – Communications – Planning a lifting operation
  • Preparing a lift site in accordance with the AP’s safe system of work (end test)
  • Please note that the CPCS Technical (Theory) test questions are available to review prior to attending the course at CPCS down loads

 

 

Certification


All candidates will complete the Full (Theory & Practical) CPCS Technical Test and on successful completion will be issued with a CPCS Red Trained Operators Card

The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
