This course is aimed at supervisors and managers with responsibility for lifting operations. This course will give you an understanding of the appointed person’s responsibilities and how to fulfil them.
They will achieve a red CPCS Trained Operator card on passing the CPCS technical tests at the end of the course.
If you already hold the CPCS A40 Slinger/Signaller category, you will also achieve the CPCS Code A62 Crane Supervisor qualification.CPCS Appointed Person (A61) Course Content
- Observe regulations and Codes of Practice - Follow safe systems of work including method statements - Take personal responsibility - Describe different types of cranes and associated terminology - Understand crane documentation - Understand crane stability, duty charts and safety devices - Appreciate tower cranes - Observe British Standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes Guidlines sections 1, 2, 3 and 4. - Recognise the role of appointed persons - Plan a lift Entry Requirements:
Learners must have passed the Managers & Professionals Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years, prior to course start date.
You should have sufficient experience of cranes to meet the requirements specified in British standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes.
Good understanding of spoken and written English.
Assessment:
Four days learning through a mix of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises, followed by one day assessment - CPCS technical tests. Certification:
Learners will receive a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card on passing the CPCS technical tests, valid for two years.
After gaining on-site experience, you must complete an Appointed Persons NVQ Level 5 within two years to apply for the blue CPCS Competence Card which is renewable every five years.
The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
