Course Overview

The aim of the course is provide the theoretical and practical knowledge to safely operate an excavator for general purpose applications. This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, and other relevant statutory provisions.

Course Content

CPCS courses include the following elements:

Roles and responsibilities of the operator
Pre-use and post-use checks
Basic safety and siting of the machine
Minor adjustments, routine servicing procedures, as well as how to carry these out
Attaching and removing buckets
Transporting materials safely over a range of terrains
Machine configuration
The capabilities of the machine, purpose and limitations. This would cover machines below 10 tonnes.
Basic construction, principle components and controls of the machine
