The Novice/Foundation course is designed for workers that have little or no site experience in the role of slinger/signaller, so require a full training course to assist them passing their CPCS theory and practical tests. Individuals with a reasonable amount of prior slinging and signalling site experience should attend the A40B Experienced Worker course instead. Course Content
- Site induction, CPCS explanation and expectations. - Revision of CPCS theory knowledge questions. - Relevant Health & Safety legislation. - Responsibilities of the 360 excavator driver. - Theoretical knowledge of plant operation.
- Identification, maintenance, and checking of excavation equipment. - Operator’s responsibilities. - Familiarity with equipment. - Use of operator’s manual. - Start of practical operation.
- Excavation of material. - Loading of other plant, such as Forward Tipping Dumpers. - Stockpiling safely and efficiently. - Operation on slopes. - Safe use of a quick hitch. - How to change attachments safely.
- CPCS Theory Test (morning) and Practical Test (afternoon).
Training Methods
The training involves both theory and practical training at the test centre.
Pre-requisites and additional information
Delegates MUST have passed their CSCS Health, Safety, and Environment Test within the last 2 years (to the date of the actual CPCS tests). Delegates that arrive without having possessing a valid CSCS HSE pass will not be permitted to attend and will lose the full cost of the course.
A passport-approved photograph must be presented to the office in order to apply for the CPCS cards.
Please note that if you do not pass the CPCS Theory Test then you are not permitted to attempt the CPCS Practical Test. Additional fees apply if re-tests are required. Course Times
8.00am - 4.30pm. Course times will be confirmed in the joining instructions once the course has been booked.
The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
