Course Overview
Course Dates

The A58 Excavator (below 10 tonnes) course will give you foundation training and assessment in operating and maintaining a mini excavator safely and productively, and includes quick hitch training. It is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical training under simulated ‘on site’ conditions.

On successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests you will be eligible to hold a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card. You will also be issues with a CITB National Construction College certificate.

Course Structure

- Operate the mini excavator safely and productively
- Fit and operate ancillary equipment
- Carry out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
- Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
- Follow all necessary safety precautions
- Interpret the information provided by level pegs and profiles
- Carry out necessary routine adjustments and service procedures
- Work to levels with the aid of laser equipment.

Pre-requisites

Candidates must have completed the CSCS Health and Safety Environmental Touch Screen Test within the past two years.
