CPCS Training (A40a) - Slinger Signaller Course - Foundation/Novice

Who Should Attend:

This course is for people with limited or no experience of slinging and signalling, who want to gain entry into the lifting industry and achieve a CPCS Red Card.

Course Contents:

- Establish the weight and dimensions of loads and communicate this information to the crane operator.
- Select appropriate lifting tackle and attach and detach it correctly and safely.
- Use clear and unambiguous signals to direct the actions of a crane moving loads of various weights and dimensions.
- Determine the serviceability of lifting accessories, and maintain and store them.

Training Breakdown:

Day 1: Theory Training
Day 2: - Different lifting tackles
           - How to identify un-serviceable and serviceable tackles
           - Study and read through the certification of different lifting accessories
           - How to perform lifts using various different tackles.
Day 3: - Going over training from Day 2
           - Blind lifting
           - Maintaining the integrity of the load
           - Learn to lift many different types of loads and get the diversity of lifting in place
           - How to track with the crane, track with suspended load and "sprag" with and without a load
          - How to counter the deflection on a crane from a slinger perspective
          - Theory revision
Day 4: - Mock Tests
           - Additional training/revision for any fields they do not feel confident with
Day 5: - Test Day

Assessment:

- Verbal 1-1 Theory Test
- Practical test performing according to the CPCS test criteria

Certification:

Upon successful completion, delegates will achieve a CPCS Red Trained Operators Card which will be valid for 2 years

Pre-requisites:

All delegates must have completed the CSCS Health, Safety & Environmental Test for Operatives within the past 2 years.
