Course Aims
Toprovide thorough practical and theory training in the responsibilities of aSlinger/Signaller to enable the candidate to competently and safely carry outthe role and pass the CPCS Theory and Practical Tests.
Course Content
-Establishing the weight and dimensions of loads and communicating thisinformation to the crane operator
-Selecting appropriate lifting tackle, attaching and detaching it correctly andsafely
-Directing the actions of a crane moving loads of various weights anddimensions, giving clear and unambiguous signals in such a manner as to ensurethe safety of personnel and plant
-Determining the serviceability of lifting tackle maintaining and storing itcorrectly
-The duties and responsibilities, as required by statute, of a slinger/signaller
-The effects of load movement on the stability of a crane
-Potential hazards associated with crane operation how to overcome them
-The effect of varying the angles of multi-leg slings and how to calculate theirsafe working loads
-Methods of establishing weights and dimensions of loads
-The standard code of signals
-Operator problems of crane control
-Automatic safe load indicators
-Crane safety devices

(Days1 to 3 – theory and practical training. Day 4 – Theory/practical testing)
Test
Toachieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card candidates must pass both the CPCSTheory Test and the Practical Test.
PLEASE NOTE ANY CANDIDATEWISHING TO ATTEND A CPCS COURSE MUST HOLD A VALID HEALTH & SAFETY TOUCHSCREEN TEST WHICH HAS BEEN TAKEN WITHIN THE LAST 2 YEARS
ANY CANDIDATE WHO BOOKSONTO THIS COURSE AND DOES NOT HOLD THE ABOVE CERTIFICATE PRIOR TO THE TECHNICALTEST WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND.
CANDIDATES WHO FAIL TOACHIEVE THE MINIMUM STANDARD REQUIRED WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND.
