CPCS A09 Forward Tipping Dumper & A31 Ride on Roller Novice/Foundation Course

Candidates must have completed the CSCS Health and Safety Environmental Touch Screen Test within the past two years.

Course Content

Roles and responsibilities:

• Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their roles and responsibilities as a plant operator

Preparing the machines for works:

• Name and explain the principle components, the basic construction of the machines and controls and terminology 
• Conform with manufacturers requirements as per the operators manuals, other types of information and regulations and legislation 
• Complete pre-use and running checks

Travelling and manoeuvring the machines:

• Configure and set the machine for site and highway travel
• Travel over varying terrain
• Manoeuvre in confined areas

Setting up for work:

• Ensure the suitability of the working area
• Position to receive loads
• Configure and set up for compacting duties
• Explain actions for hazards, unground and overhead services

Working tasks:

• Comply with loading procedures
• Ensure load integrity and security
• Transfer loads to different locations
• Discharge loads into trenches and over edges
• Compact loose granular materials to specification
• Compact in straight lines and around radii
• Compact supported and unsupported edges
• Explain the principles, requirements and techniques of good compaction

Completing work:

• Maintain safe and tidy working areas

Shutting down:

• Carry out shut down and securing procedures
• Explain loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting
