Who Should Attend: 

The course is aimed at personnel providing first line supervision for scaffolding contractors (i.e Contract Managers, Supervisors, Estimators, Scaffold Designers, Foreman and Non-working Chargehands, Charge Hand Scaffolders.

Course Aims: 

Scaffolding Supervisor training is intended to give attendees the knowledge and management skills required in contract Scaffolding. It is designed to give the attendee a complete overview of the whole scaffolding operation.

At the end of the course delegates should be able to;

  • Identify the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Work at Height Regulations and all other regulations and codes of practice relating to work within the Scaffolding industry
  • Manage Health and Safety
  • Have an extensive understanding of industry guidance (TG20, SG4 & SG6 etc) and state its importance
  • Have a good understanding of British Standards.
  • Understand all aspects of scaffold design
  • Manage employment basics (legal and employment law)
  • Demonstrate good supervisory skills including effective communication, planning and organisation
  • Present effective toolbox talks and briefings
  • Understand the commercial side of the scaffolding operation including estimating, contacts, awareness, valuations and disputes.

- Toolbox Talks

Delegates are required to prepare and present a toolbox talk. Delegates will be given a list of subjects that can be covered or they can choose their own as long as it is industry relevant.

- Risk Assessment Project

Delegates are required to sit a written test and submit a project which contributes to the overall assessment. The project will include risk assessments and method statements, estimating materials and logistics and estimating price.

Entry Requirements: 

Delegates must have passed a Supervisory Level CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test or hold a recognised exemption in order for the card application to be made, all taken within 2 years prior courses attendance/CISRS card application.

In order to attend this course CISRS will require delegates to have awareness and experience of scaffolding structures and a general understanding of how a scaffolding contracting company operates.

Those meeting one of the following criteria will be accepted onto the course:

  • Delegate holds a current Scaffolder card
  • Delegate holds a current Advanced Scaffolder card

Please note individuals holding CISRS Labourer, Trainee and BASE cards will not be deemed eligible to attend a CISRS Supervisor Course, unless they satisfy the criteria detailed below.

Individuals not holding an eligible CISRS card detailed above wishing to attend the course will be required to submit a CV with contactable references and or/certificates, together with a letter from their employer confirming their suitability for the course by outlining their awareness and experience gained via their role within the industry and confirmation that the delegate has had a minimum of 2 years’ experience in this role.

Examples of acceptable roles are: Contract Managers, Supervisors, Estimators, Scaffold Designers, Foreman and Non-working Chargehands, Charge Hand Scaffolders.

Delegates who do not have any previous knowledge or experience of scaffolding will not be eligible to attend this course. 


Duration: 

5 Days

Delegates who miss any of the 5 days of training will be deemed to have failed the course and will have to attend a further full 5 day course

Certification/ Card Application: 

The trainer will issue successful delegates with a CISRS endorsed certificate and we will also apply for their CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor card. Delegates must have passed a Supervisory Level CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test or hold a recognised exemption in order for the card application to be made, all taken within 2 years prior courses attendance/CISRS card application.

Certification & Cards will be valid for 5 years from the course completion date.
