CISRS SITS - Basic Scaffold Inspection

Who Should Attend:

This is a course aimed at persons responsible for inspecting tube and fitting scaffold and completing a report in accordance to the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Course Aims:

This SITS (Scaffold Inspection Training Scheme) course is intended to give attendees such knowledge so as to enable them to understand how to inspect basic and some simple designed scaffolding structures in traditional tube and fittings in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and scaffolding industry best practice.

The overall aim is to develop in trainees an understanding of scaffold components, forms of construction and inspection procedures of basic access scaffolds and some simple designed structure’s and to comply with current regulations and industry best practice.

- Inspections/hand-over procedures/ scaff tag system
- Reports
- European Standards (BS EN 12811)
- N.A.S.C guidance document SG4:15
- Working at Heights Regulations 2005
- Health and Safety At Work Act 1974
- Scaffold components/materials
- Scaffold terminology
- Means of access and Egress
- Gin wheels and ropes
- Scaffold foundations
- Scaffold ties
- Construction regulations and recommendations of basic scaffolds
- Working platforms
- Basic independent tied and putlog scaffolds
- TG20 compliant scaffolds (e.g. bridging with beams, protection fans, freestanding towers, lift shaft towers, ladder access towers, birdcages, loading bays and chimney stack scaffolds )

Assessment:

The successful achievement of the above training objectives will be demonstrated using the following assessment methods:

-Theory test to assess trainees comprehension of course
- Practical scaffolding inspections

Entry Requirements:

We would expect candidates to have some awareness and experience of scaffolding structures, which would have come from their time in their individual industry sector e.g. construction, engineering etc. This experience may be required to be confirmed by confirmation via email or a letter.

- You must have a good understanding of spoken and written English
- Literacy and language comprehension are important requirements on all courses. Any physical impairment or literacy issues should be discussed with the trainer prior to making a booking so we can best accommodate your needs.
- Delegates that hold a current CISRS Scaffolder card
- Delegates holds a current CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card
- Delegates holds a current CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor card
- Delegates that hold a current or expired CISRS Basic Inspection card and is attending the course in order to renew their card
