Introduction:
600 people are injured every year due to underground cables being damaged during excavation work on the highway. Many more are injured through damaging water and gas pipes, these damages often incur high repair charges and loss of work.

- Theory– covering both the benefits and system including limitations of the technology
- Practical work – hands on locating using receiver, transmitter and accessories
- Feedback,questions / answers, application & techniques, general care and maintenance of the equipment
- Simple ways to locate street lighting cables
- Location of bends
- Location of junctions
- Identification of utilities
- Service connections
- Locating through concrete reinforcing
- Depth measurement (where applicable)

Why do I need it?
Competence training in the use of cable locators is widely recognised as one of the key steps to reducing cable strikes. So any person working on the roads, people who are setting out before a build, surveyors and any person excavating areas should be trained in the correct use of cable locators.
