Course Overview

The course can be held as a ‘stand-alone’ course or as part of a triple
certification course.
A tested and company certificated activity-based course with a syllabus
covering the requirements of Regulation 10 to the Control of Asbestos
Regulations

Assessment

Formative through tutor evaluation and summative theoretical multiplechoice examination.

Certification

H & K Training Services Limited’s own certification stating; ‘successful
completion’ or ‘attended’ dependent upon assessment results.
Validity duration is recommended as three years with a tool-box-talk
refresher during the second year

Course Content

Course explanation and aims :

The properties of asbestos and its effects on health (including its interaction with smoking)
The types of products or materials likely to contain asbestos
The operations which could result in asbestos exposure
The importance of preventive controls to minimize exposure
Safe work practices, control measures and protective equipment
The purpose, choice, limitations, proper use and maintenance of RPE
Emergency procedures
Hygiene requirements
Decontamination procedures
Waste handling procedures
Medical examination requirements
The control limit and the need for air monitoring
Films and activities shall be used to reinforce good practice and to highlight malpractice Theoretical test (multiple choice)
