What’s the course all about:
This course is specifically designed for anyone whose job means they may interact with asbestos containing materials. This is not the UKATA accredited version but follows the required content exactly.
What will I learn?
The course raises awareness and develops the knowledge of site based employees on the hazards and risks posed by asbestos containing materials (ACMs) within their everyday working environment and to provide an overview of the legislative measures in place to safeguard themselves and others affected by work activities.
Exactly What Will I Do?
On successful completion of the course delegates should:
- Have an increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos and its effects on health
- Be familiar with the different types and uses as well as the likely occurrences of asbestos in buildings
- Know how to avoid the risk from asbestos by understanding:
- Where to obtain information on asbestos in premises prior to commencing work
- What to do if suspicious materials are found
- How to use appropriate workplace precautions
- Undertake work activities in a safe manner
- Have an increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos and its effects on health
- Understand unintentional and emergency contact procedures
Who should attend?
This is designed for all those who carry out work on or in buildings and follows the requirement of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Student Requirements: No previous training required
How long will it last? Half a day
How many will be there? Maximum of 12
Certification: On successful completion of the course, delegates will be issued with a certificate of attendance.
