Who is the course for? And how long is it?
The training course is for anyone who fits or uses abrasive wheels. For example, Users of angle grinders (fitted with cutting or grinding wheels), cut-off saws or bench top cut-off saws would benefit from this course. The training takes half a day to complete.
What are the benefits of being certified?
The main benefit is that you will be able to work more safely and therefore more confidently. Furthermore, the training is a requirement under the legislation titled‘Provisional use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PURE)’. The course also provides you with an industry recognised certificate which is used to provide evidence of your training.
How long is the certification valid for?
The certification is valid for 3 years. After this time you must retake the course. However, you can also do a refresher course as and when you want.
What does the course involve?
We often get questions as to what’s included in the programme. Therefore, below is a summary of the course content.
- The course will introduce any legislation of note.
- Fitting storing and maintaining.
- Hazards, testing and inspection.
- Duties of the employer and the employee.
- Any PPE requirements.
For online training, candidates will require:
- A laptop/computer with microphone, speakers and fast internet connection (tablet/smartphones are not suitable)
- A quiet room to complete the course in
- A valid form of photo ID
