Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for employees such as factory workers, construction workers, vehicle mechanics, panel beaters, mechanical and civil engineers and any person required to mount an abrasive wheel to a portable machine or to bench/pedestal grinders.
Course Overview
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 requires the correctly selected wheel to be properly mounted by a person who has been trained for this purpose and is considered competent by the employer.
Course Content
- Legislation overview to include HASAWA 1974, PUWER, CoSHH and PPE
- Main hazards and risks during use
- The storage and care of abrasive wheels including checks prior to, during and after use
- Wheel markings and types of wheels
- Truing and dressing bench grinder wheels (if applicable)
- Practical demonstration in changing wheels
