NEBOSH General Certificate
If you're looking to take that first step into health and safety management then the NEBOSH General Certificate is a great start. It is the most popular health and safety qualification within the UK and equips candidates with a general understanding of all health and safety topics. This course lies at Level 3 within the National Qualification Framework and is also acknowledged by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
· The NEBOSH General Certificate is split into three different units – two of these will normally be taught units in which the candidate will undertake a written exam, and the third unit will be a practical examination.
· The first unit (NGC1) will focus on health and safety management and includes modules such as foundations in Health and Safety, Health and Safety Policy and Risk Assessment.
· The second unit (NGC2) will be made up of modules surrounding the managing of workplace hazards such as Movement of People and Vehicles, Work Equipment and Electricity and Fire.
Within the practical examination, candidates will undertake an inspection of a workplace and consider the hazards present. They will follow this with a written report identifying the measures that should be taken.
