Five tips when booking your SSSTS course

Make sure the SSSTS is the right course for you! 

An essential tip when looking to book an SSSTS course is that you ensure that it is the correct course for your needs.

Many candidates confuse the SSSTS course with the SMSTS course (Site Managers Safety Training Scheme). The SMSTS course lasts 5 days in duration and is designed specifically for those managing a whole site, whereas the SSSTS course is shorter (2 days) and is aimed at those supervising a team of workers. 

Check your course is CITB accredited 

The SSSTS course has been designed by the CITB (Construction Training Industry Board) as part of their Site Safety Plus Scheme. Courses on the Site Safety Plus scheme are recognised as the construction industry standard and United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) sites insist that their supervisors hold SSSTS certificates.

While the CITB does not directly deliver the Site Safety Plus courses themselves, they do accredit training providers to deliver the course in line with their strict regulations. It is therefore essential that when booking an SSSTS course, you ensure that it is delivered by a CITB accredited trainer and not just an in - house course.

Do you need a Refresher? 

Do you need to sit the full course or a Refresher? If you have previously sat and passed the full SSSTS course and your certificate has not yet expired, then you will be eligible for the 1 day Refresher course when your expiry date is close.

Look for a location as close to home as possible

As the SSSTS course is well recognised within the construction industry, there is a wide range of accredited training providers offering this course throughout the UK. This makes it easy to book a course either close to your home or work location. In this way you can minimise your travel time and cost, making further savings.
