CITB Grant Reductions are Coming Soon!

On 12th May 2010 the CITB announced reductions to grants available to CITB levy payers, and this includes the popular Site Safety Plus courses. CITB levy payers who have staff that they know need to attend one of these courses in the near future should probably look to complete a course before the deadline as the grant changes will have a significant financial impact.

From 1st August the achievement grants are scheduled to be withdrawn, and the daily attendance grants are reducing to only £17.50 per day. This will have the biggest affect on the 5 day SMSTS course, where the grant funding will be less than £100 per delegate, but the SMSTS refresher course and SSSTS course funding will also reduce to less than £40 per delegate.

SMSTS 5 day course - £352.00 current grant aid will reduce to less than £100 per delegate

SMSTS 2 day refresher course/SSSTS 2 day course – £140.80 current grant aid will reduce to less than £40 per delegate

To avoid the loss in funding companies should be planning to complete and submit claims for courses before the 1st August deadline.

Notes:
Currently a CITB levy payer would attracts grants as below for Site Safety Plus courses.

SMSTS 5 days course - £352.00 (made up of a £26.00 per day attendance grant, plus an achievement grant of £130, and a 10% supplementary payment).

SMSTS 2 days refresher course - £140.80 (made up of a £26.00 per day attendance grant, plus an achievement grant of £76, and a 10% supplementary payment).

SSSTS 2 days course - £140.80 (made up of a £26.00 per day attendance grant, plus an achievement grant of £76, and a 10% supplementary payment).

The changes will also affect other grant assisted areas from 1st August 2010, including:

- Funding of NVQ's (2, 3, & 4's);

- A drop in the CPCS technical test grant to 25%;

- Limitation of the average number of grant aided days and short duration training.
