Bookmycourse – Our new look site

New Top Level Navigation Bar
Bookmycourse has a new top level navigation bar, which allows us to create more sections. The “More” button allows you to access more section pages. We have already created the new Construction Plant section and have plans to create more section pages in the near future. The Construction Plant section has been created, as the number of CPCS courses available justifies its own individual section. There are a whole range of quick links on this section to find construction plant machinery courses.

Special Offer Button
The special offer button is a new feature, which allows direct access to all course events with special offers, helping you to find more cost effective courses.

E-Learning Button
E-learning is becoming more and more important in the training sector. This new functionality will come into play in the very near future but in the interim, you will find a link to all the e-learning courses available on the site.

Course Finder
The new course finder bar allows you to search by course category or by keyword text.

When you search using the Course Finder, Google Maps now opens automatically, allowing you to see where course are located in the UK. You can also enter your location, so that you can see where the courses are located relative to you.

You can page through the search results and you can even click on a map pin to show all the course dates for courses at a specific location.

Once you have entered a location the “Miles Radius” slider comes into play and this should help to find the courses that are closest to you.

The “Max Price” slider can be employed to limit the search by course price.

The advanced filter offers a range of new filter functions. For example, you may only be interested in day release courses as you cannot take time off in one block, so you can select only those courses that are day release events. Or, you might only be able to start a course on a specific day of the week, so you can select the day of the week that the course starts.

You can, also, use the advanced filter to search for Special Offers only.

Site Search
The Site Search extends the search capability of the site and will search down into the detailed wording of course overviews. Site Search returns the first 300 search results from a search, so it is sometimes better to extend your search with more keywords to get better results. For example, you may want to find a CPCS Course for an Excavator. On the first attempt you search for the word “Construction”, and Site Search returns too many results, and only shows the first 300, none of which include Excavator courses. If you now extend you search to “Construction CPCS”, the search results are more relevant as the courses that you want to see come into the results. If you then extend the search further “Construction CPCS Excavator”, the search results are even more relevant.

Recently Viewed Courses
This feature, which appears on the home page and all section pages allows you to see the course pages most recently visited, and provides links so that you can return to them.

Most Popular
This feature provides visibility of the most popular courses on the site, with quick links to the course pages.

Pinned Courses
Pinned courses feature provides a summary of linked courses that you have pinned for reference. By clicking on the links you can revisit these courses and un-pin them should you wish that they be removed from the pinned courses list.

Quick Links Boxes
We have provided a number of quick links boxes on the Home page and Section pages, these quick link boxes allow you to access weekend courses, day release courses or simply provide fast links to see course dates for the most common course types.
